UPDATE: Nov 25th, 2009 - THANKSGIVING Greeting:

Dear Beloved at Community Bible Church USA:,
Cece and I and the entire family of ACFI bring my you and your dear family a special thanksgiving greeting with love and goodwill in Jesus precious name.

THANKSGIVING is celebrating the goodness of God, the life giver. So then, humanity has an obligation to thank God always even for Jesus Christ, the Savior and source of our salvation. Indeed, it is also expedient that we appreciate the special friends that God has graciously placed in our lives. We are truly blessed to see another opportunity to simply say "Thank you Jesus and thank you friends."

We are surely convinced that God has called us to labor together with Christ. We are his divine instrument and workmanship impacting and provoking one another to good works through shared partnership for Kingdom building. Therefore, we wish to let you know that we sincerely and very deeply appreciate your expressed love and sacrificies in support of this gospel ministry and humanitarian outreach to the needy, orphans, the handicapped and others. We say again, thank you a million times.

Finally, know that God is watching and taking record of everything that you do to enhance the building of his Kingdom on earth. We are confident that your labor of love will be rewarded. So, please keep on keeping on......
Thanks and kind regards.

Ed & Cece Kofi

UPDATE: August 5th, 2009

Dear Beloved at Community Bible Church:

We bring you calvary greeting with love. By the grace of God, we are so pleased to say "Thank you" for your prayers and intercession on our behalf. We are very blessed by your expressed love and sacrificial financial support. Our privilege and strength to serve are the direct result of your faithful prayers. As co-laborers with Christ, We beleive that God ordained our relationship. Thanks ever so much for being the person that God uses to bless others.

The work of the Ministry continues to progress. We had a week long youth retreat and 27 young people got saved and baptized. A total of 475 youths attended the retreat. Right now we are conducting house to house peronal evangelism and revival services across the capital of Monrovia, Liberia.

Our mid-year church leadership training seminars will be held between July 29 to August 7. The seminars will include sessions for pastors, evangelists and other church leaders as well as christian educators. These seminars are sponsored by Fellowship Bible church of Tacoma, WA. A missions team of 20 including pastors teachers doctors nurses and gospel workers from this church are scheduled to arrive in Liberia July 27, for two weeks. The team will also conduct a medical ministry at a village in the south east of the country.

The project to change Daniel Hoover Children Village to a resident mission school is progressing. The government ministry of education has given pre- approval to the change. Therefore, we are vigorously working to meet the vaious requirements including fencing the campus and supplying bunk beds for the dormitories.

The village recently graduated 21 primary school children to the 1st grade. The school year has come to an end. Also, the school at the mission for deaf children has closed for the academy year. The closing programs were held July 19, with great excitment. All of the children of both Hoover village and the mission for Deaf children are very thankful to God and to you for helping them to get a future.

With help of special friends at the Westminister Presbyterian Church at Charlotte, NC and others we have begun to construct a security fence around the perimeter of the campuses of Daniel Hoover Childdren Village which is now a resident mission school. The construction of the fence is an answer to prayer. The cost is little over $23,000 including material purchase and labor. the work is been done in four phases since we do not have all of the funds to cover the whole project. We are under taking this needful project by faith.

Another important project that is pending is the purchase of additional bunk beds for the dormintories. There is a need for 250. Purchase price per unit is $75. How ever, if we ourselves built them each unit would cost $35.The last bunk beds we purchased were financed by friends at Community Bible Church at Georgia. We think this is most cost effective. Please stand with us in prayer for God's provision because these are difficult days. Notwithstanding, God owns the cattles on the ten thousand hills.

The final prayer need is transportation (School bus) for both the Hoover Mission School and the Mission for Deaf Children. The campuses of both mission schools are remotely located outside main transport route.. It is very difficult for teachers and staff to commute back and forth to work. this is not healthy in providing total care and conducive learning enviroment. without transportation the mission staff will not be regular at work and this will potentially depride the children. We are praying and trusting God for two used school buses. Please pray with us.

I thank God for your prayers. I believe I will soon be fully recover from the injury I sustained from the armed robbery attack. Also my health condition is ok. God is sustaining me and my family one day at the time. Please continue to pray for the gospel to be preached to lost souls. Pray also for the children and the general ministry of ACFI.

Thanks and kind regard,
Ed Kofi

UPDATE: November 3rd, 2008:

Bro. Mark,
Thanks ever so much for promoting the ACFI Mission on the Community Bible Church website. We deeply appreciate this thoughtfulness and kind gesture. By doing this, you are directly involved with the ACFI mission in Liberia and surrounding countries.

We will keep you informed as development unfold at the ACFI to be posted on your church website. We also have individual photo for each of the new children that have been admitted at the orphanage. We are praying for sponsors for each child. Could you post the photos on the web and make the need for sponsors known

A total of 92 orphans and indigent children were recently admitted at the Daniel Hoover Children village at Dixville, outside the Liberian capital of Monrovia. (see first photo below) This brings the total number of children at the village including the mission for deaf children to over 500. Daniel Hoover children village is a rescue ministry for orphans, indigent, abandoned, wayward and suffering war ravaged children. The village was established by ACFI in 2002.

November 2008:  SOS FROM THE CHILDREN

The global financial crisis and high cost of food have seriously affected the feeding of the orphans and needy children at ACFI (Daniel Hoover Children Village and the Mission for Deaf Children). The prices of basic food commodities in Liberia are extremely high making it very unaffordable. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide adequate feeding for the children. We ration food supply daily. Indeed, the food situation is totally out of control and causing us tremendous stress. Many friends that have faithfully and generously supported the ACFI are now themselves affected by the financial crisis. They can no longer continue to give, so, the ministry’s support level has drastically dropped very low. *This situation is making it practically impossible to continue the programs of the various ministries including feeding and caring for the orphans and indigent children.

In spite of the prevailing circumstance, we believe that God is in control. This is his work and he will continue to sustain it. In psalm 37:25 David declared, “I was young and now I am old, yet have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” The Lord also declared in Psalm 50:10 that he owns the cattle on the thousand hills. With these assurances in the word of God, we believe that God is in control and that everything will be alright. Trials and difficulties make us strong and more focus... (II Cor. 12:7-10)

*Attn CBC Members:  If you can help financially to feed the newly admitted orphans at ACFI's Hoover Village in Liberia, please see one of our elders. Thank you

A "one-time meal" for the children on 'Liberia Independence Day' July 26th!

The above two photos show our new children at the Hoover Village enjoying a "real meal" - (one of a few they have had recently) in July on Liberia's Independence Day.

THANKS FOR MATTRESSES…MORE NEEDED

We bless God that several friends have responded to the need for mattresses for the orphans at the village. The mattresses that were stolen have been replaced. However, many more children have been admitted and several more are expected to be admitted. *So, we are praying for more mattresses. Each piece of mattress is $52. Some children are sleeping on the bare floor right now. This situation could get them sick. So we are praying that God will intervene.

November 2008: TRANSPORTATION

Transportation is still an urgent need for ACFI works in Liberia. Teachers and working staff at Daniel Hoover Children Village and the Mission for Deaf children do commute to work on foot daily for several hours for lack of transportation. These orphanages are located remotely far from the city. There is no regular transport system in the area, and this is a serious disadvantage. We do have difficulties recruiting workers because of the transportation situation. *Therefore we are praying for 2 used buses or 15-seated vans, a jeep and a pickup truck. Whoever has any could donate it to the cause of Christ (ACFI). *Please pray with us.

We extend special greetings and goodwill to the family of Community Bible Church. We appreciate your prayers and intercession on our behalf.

Ed & Patience Kofi

+ The Hoover family have decided to ship a container of relief including food, etc., to Liberia for the orphans in October. This family has regularly shipped food, building materials and other relief items to Liberia in support of the gospel ministry of ACFI and the needy children of Liberia. Right now, the greatest need is food for the children. The high cost of food in Liberia is making it increasingly difficult for us to feed the orphans. There is an urgent need for such items as rice, floor, sugar, cooking, beans, oatmeal, peanut butter, chicken cans, and any non-perishable food items. *We ask you to please pray that God will raise individuals, groups, etc to join the Hoovers in this relief drive. *We are praying for three months supply of food to alleviate the tension.

+ The Hoover Children Village teachers are back to school. They agreed to resume classes when they got one month pay against their five months arrears. They promised to continue to teach while we pray for God's intervention in settling the balance arrears. Thank special friends that made some funds available for the project.

+ Bless God that we have purchased some mattresses to replace those that were stolen. With help from friends, we purchased 50 mattresses and the children are very happy. We believe that God will provide more to cover all the children.

+ The acting president of Liberia Christian College, Henry Powoe, who accidentally fractured his leg in July, has now returned to work on clutches. He is gradually recovering. Praise the Lord!

Thanks and kind regards,
Ed Kofi

UPDATE:  September 11th, 2008

Dear Friends,

It is indeed a joy to let you know that I am back in the U.S.A! Thank God for me being allowed to be back with my family. I was gone for three months. We also bless God for your faithful prayers on our behalf.

God continues to use us profoundly. Through his grace we enjoyed the privilege of ministering to many in Africa (Ghana and Liberia). Gospel crusades, revivals, medical services, and children ministries among others were conducted with great success. The lives of multitudes of people were touched and blessed. Hundreds of lost souls received Christ and added to the Church. Five new Churches have been planted and others revived.

We traveled into the interior of southeastern Liberia and provided public medical services in major towns in the region. Hundreds of sick people were attended including surgical procedures, etc.... Indeed, from start to finish, members of the medical team were overwhelmed by flood of patients but God gave them the grace. The medical services were part of the outreach of a missions team from the Fellowship Bible Church of Tacoma, WA which conducts annual Church leadership seminars in partnership with ACFI. Elder Bruce Stabbart, head Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church simultaneously conducted the seminars. Hundreds of pastors and church leaders attended the sessions and awarded certificates of participation.

Another exciting feature was the children ministries. The children of Daniel Hoover Children Village and the Mission for Deaf Children joyously celebrated their much anticipated annual food and fun festival. The occasion usually co-incides with Liberia's Independence day (July 26). Every year a missions team of special friends come to Liberia to make the children happy. They share two weeks of fun time with the children and feed them with a one time special big meal and also distribute toys and other gifts. This year's occasion was really outstanding. The children had more than enough. We thank God for Dan and Sue Hostetler and the Living Water Community Church family at Dalton, Ohio that hosts this event every year. We also want to say many thanks to the Fishing Creek Baptist Church of York, SC. Minister Wright, we say to you a big “THANK YOU”.

Daniel Hoover Children Village and the Mission for Deaf Children also celebrated the sixth anniversary of the founding of the village. The village is a ministry of ACFI for Orphans and Indigent Children including the handicapped. The village was established August 4th, 2002. The Hoover family was very instrumental in the establishment of the village. The village is home to some 500 needy children including a special program for deaf children.

The theme of the occasion was “Raising the future of Liberia, the challenge of our time”. The children celebrated the occasion with a parade, soccer match and a special indoor program. The highlight of the occasion was the admission of some sixty orphaned children to the village and the Mission for Deaf Children.

The Water distribution business is gradually being put in place. We have purchased the plastic product and also a used pickup truck for the distribution. Right now the project site is being refurbished. We believe that by October the project will begin. Please be in prayer with us. We bless God for the friends who graciously contributed toward this project.

*NOW AS YOU PRAY & INTERCEEDE FOR ACFI, PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING THE FOLLOWING BEFORE THE LORD.

- The school year has begun in Liberia. Please pray that God will touch the hearts of the Hoover Children Village school teachers to be willing to return to classes. They are demanding payment of their five months salary ($8,125) or they will not teach. We are pleading with them to still be patient as we pray for God's intervention.

- There is a need for the replacement of the children's mattresses that have been stolen. Out of the 100 stolen only 23 have been retrieved . Each mattress is $52. There is still a need for 77 mattresses.

- Price of staple food in Liberia has escalated very high. It is becoming increasingly difficult to feed the children. Pray that God will provide for the daily upkeep of the children.

- Burglary and armed robbery are on the rise presenting serious insecurity in the country. The Hoover Children Village is very vunerable and insecured. The village needs a security fence. We've got some cement and rebars. But more is needed for the project. Pray also for God's provision.

- Please pray that our evangelism and church planting focus will be strengthened as we approach dry season in Liberia. This is the best time to travel to rural areas and isolated villages with the gospel message.

- Pray for the Liberia Christian College and The Interim Administration. Pray also for the Chairman who fractured his leg recently so that he can speedily recover.

- Completion of the construction of the Library building at the ACFI Headquarters. The building will also house the Liberia Christian College and Bible Institute. The completion of the building will remove the rental burden that is heavily weighing on us.

- Liberia is yearning for true reconciliation following the 17-year civil war. The political truth and conciliation commission set up by the government is opening old wounds and seems to be doing more harm than good. True reconciliation comes from God through Christ. Let's pray that the Church will wake up and pray for a true reconciled Liberia. ACFI is in the vanguard of this campaign.

- Child adoption program in Liberia is being tampered with and manipulated by some government officials and anti adoption groups. The Liberian Legislature is trying to review the adoption Laws of the country. Let's pray for God's intervention and guidance of the process. Adoption is a child rescue mission and should not be hindered by evil forces.

- Now finally, brethren, we ask that you please stand with us in your prayer closets and daily devotions. We believe that the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much (James 5:16). Also, we kindly ask you to share these special prayer needs with other prayer partners and friends. We are believing God for a miracle.

Thanks and kind regards,
Ed Kofi

August 23, 2008

Dear Beloved at Community Bible Church,
We bring you and your families a hearty greeting with love in Jesus name...

Just to let you know that I am still in Africa, (Liberia) ministering the gospel to the needy. Though I'm extremely overwhelmed by pressure of situation and conditions here, the Lord has continued to guide me through. The enemy (satan) continues to attack the good things that God is doing in this
place through us. Thanks for keeping us in your daily prayers for strength and endurance.
You are indeed a special friend and trusted partner in service. We want you to know that we appreciate you and all that you do in supporting the needy children of Liberia and the gospel ministeries of ACFI. May God shower his rich blessings upon you.

BRIEF NEWS UPDATE;

Let us bless God in all things. Though this brief report is heart breaking, let us take heart in the
Lord.
- Armed robbers (thieves) have twice raided the Daniel Hoover children village a few days ago (August 15 and 20 respectively) and stole the remaining food for the children, and the mattresses purchased for some 60 newly admitted orphans at the village, bicycles for the children and lots of essential supplies for the village and general ministry. This is indeed another serious setback. It is very discouraging and stressfully confusing. For now we have to find emergency food supply and replacement of the matresses to avoid the children sleeping on the naked floor. We are therefore praying and seeking God's intervention for this emengency need. Please pray with us.

- In recent weeks there has been serious tension between the ACFI, (Rev. Kofi) and some government officials who are trying to spread lies against the ACFI. They use the news media through press conferences to tell the Liberian people that the ACFI is moving a large number of children from southeastern Liberia to the capital of Monrovia for the sole purpose of adoption. We too prayerfully and appropriately responded to the lies and propaganda against the ACFI through the very news media. Though the situation is calming down, we intend not to stop until those evil individuals in government retract their unfounded accusation against ACFI.Please stand with us in prayer for wisdom and courage. We know that through Christ we are on the winning side.

- The ACFI Business comittee has been reorganized for efficiency integrity andproductive management. The water project and other areas of the business will resume activities early september. Please pray with us for the sucess of the business.

- The chairman of the interim administration of the Liberia Christian College, (LCC) Rev. Henry Powoe accidentaly fractured his leg. Please pray with him for speedy recovery. Meanwhile, the college board of trustees is being reorganized for more participatory role in the life of the college. Various comittees including resource mobilization and others have been appointed.
Please pray that God will supply for the upkeep of the college.

The baggage where I kept my diabetes medication was accidentally smashed, breaking all my medication bottles. I now have no medication left with me. In fact, even to get the right kind of food to eat with the medication is difficult here. Please pray with me for God's grace.

(More to come)..............
Thanks & God Bless you,

Ed Kofi
