Romania Spring Trip: March 20 - 31st, 2009

UPDATE: March 26th

Dear CBC Family,
Just a few things so far and I don't have all the pics yet. Sunday we preached twice here in Antiohoia church in Bucharest. Monday night Rob went to a gypsy church and preached and gave his testimony. He has a few stories to tell when he gets back.

I'll attach a picture from the centennial we attended for Richard Wurmbrandt (VOM Founder). That was on Tuesday night and was very interesting. Wurmbrandt had attended a short while after the war, the Brethren church we are at here in Bucharest (Antiohoia), this is Elisei's church. I never knew that over the communist years, 2,000,000 people in Romania were put into prisons and over 500,000 died under that oppressive system.

We are both healthy and doing well and today we leave for Ploiesti and the schedule will now get very busy. We will be preaching Thursday night at Agape church (Jeremiah's church), then Friday night in a village church, Saturday we go to an evangelism event in a church in Buzau, Sunday we preach in the morning in Agape church and evening in village church. Monday night we meet with a regional group of elders out in the countryside and then get up at 3 AM on Tuesday to go the airport for 6 AM flight back home.

Tell everyone to keep praying for us, it really really helps.

Pat

From the Desk of Pat Pieters, Romania Team Leader: Fall 2006 Trip Summary

Over the years Community Bible Church has had a commitment to partnering with like-minded churches in other countries. Romania is one of those countries. We have been working with churches there since our first trip in the early 1990's. Our approach has been to partner with Antioch-type churches, (described in the Book of Acts) and to help them with leadership training materials, and other bible based resources. Today there are approximately 600-700 Plymouth Brethren Churches in Romania. Providing them with resources such as the 'Libronix Bible Software' application is one way of helping them to establish their churches in the truth in the 21st century. To accomplish this we have provided resource center computers and software licenses in three locations (Bucharest, Ploiesti, and Suceava) within the last couple of years. We also recently have built a server with these resources to broaden access to study tools like Libronix and Lesson Builder.
We also help out Doctors and Christian businessmen who own small businesses there and who are associated with the churches we interface with. The goal is to help them so that in turn, they can strengthen their local church with both finances and jobs for other Christians in their local assemblies. We will continue to share some of the efforts with churches and individuals there in Romania in the weeks ahead so you can become more involved in this ministry.

A Romanian "rustic" mountain hideaway. Fortunately for Pat & Barb, their lodging accommodations were a bit more modern!
