Greetings to you from Friends Of Internationals:

Most of you (or maybe all of you) know that many new and returning
international students are here at SPSU (Southern Polytechnic State University) and at KSU (Kennesaw State University). With both campus there are over 1,000+ international students from around the world. They came to expand their education and to improve their career opportunities BUT they did not come with their family or friends from back home. That's where we come in. God has brought them here to give them an even greater opportunity...to hear and accept the Gospel of Christ. God is asking...'What are we going to do about it?"

Here's what we can do about it:

1) Be a Friendship Family which means to invite them over for dinner or take them shopping or to a family birthday party or just hang out with them. Ask them about their home country, their family, the hopes for their future.

2) Come to the Friends of International events. There is a Welcome Dinner & Game Night for KSU at CBC on Sunday August 23rd. We are expecting around 75 students from around the world for you to connect up with. Another Welcome BBQ & Game Day for SPSU on Sunday August 30th. This will be on the campus of SPSU and a lot of students will be there too.

3) Give away your spare or unused items like lamps, chairs, pillows, bikes, small refrigerators or maybe a small desk. Look around and see what you do not need or have not used in years. The students need them. They came with nothing and many have had to move off campus which only provided them a bed.

4) Through building relationships we can share the gospel more effectively. There will be some that come to CBC on Sunday morning. There will be others that come to the Research Group to Investigate Christianity. The gospel is clearly presented over 5-7 weeks and your help and prayers are needed.

FRIENDSHIP FAMILIES

Internationals are interested in American family structures and homelife. They can best see this by visiting your home and seeing normal home life. When they first come to the USA, they usually do not know anyone and they are looking for friends. We have an opportunity to show them friendship and the love of Christ that is in us.

To be a friend is a big step of showing them who Christ is in you. The great thing about being a Friendship Family is that you simply include your international friend in activities you are already doing. You don't have to entertain them. Occasionally set another place at the dinner table or swing by on your way to a picnic or a ball game is a lot easier than planning an elaborate get together. Helping them with little errands or giving them advice and answering questions about American life is a rewarding time with the student and for you. Building a relationship can have an eternal impact on them.
